Things to Watch Out for During Installation (24V)

Electrical Safety

  • Always disconnect power before working on wiring.
  • Use only 24V AC power adapters compatible with the Grungard controller.
  • Do not splice wires without proper connectors — exposed copper can cause short circuits.

Mounting Location

  • Install the device in a sheltered area, away from direct rain and sunlight.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating.
  • If installing outdoors, use a weatherproof enclosure.

Wiring Best Practices

  • Keep wire runs as short as possible to minimize voltage drop.
  • Use waterproof connectors for any outdoor wire junctions.
  • Double-check zone labels before connecting — incorrect wiring can lead to the wrong zones activating.

Valve Compatibility

The Grungard 24V controller works with standard 24V AC solenoid valves. If you are unsure about your valve type, check the wire colors: same-color wires indicate a 24V AC valve, while different-color wires indicate a 9V DC latching valve.
